It is an old Slavic belief that humans are trees which decided to walk around for a spell. Through an exploration of breath and form in different environments and atmospheres, we reawaken our essential flora being. When we achieve meditation- a state of freedom from thought and
emotion- we experience a self much like that of a tree, which spends its long life stretching and breathing. It is nourishing for us to return to this state periodically and in this society, it is often difficult to find without support. Through a fusion of asana, moving meditation, music, atomosphere, art, story telling, study, exploration of our natural surroundings and creativity in art/studio spaces throughout the city, we are using our underground resources to give access to and normalize yoga everywhere, all of the time.
Walkingtrees Yoga is providing a space for everyone to practice yoga in Seattle. Not only is it 90% donation-based, but many different types of classes are being held in various interesting places throughout the community on a weekly basis. We seek to take down the barrier between yoga and the general public because the peace and understanding inherant to yoga is necessary to the maintenance of the human body/mind and the preservation of the planet that we share.Come to this site to check out our weekly calendar of yoga, music and art events, to look at pictures and experiences with past events, to read
articles by teachers and students or provide comments and suggestions based on your experience with this idea manifest. We will also post new ideas that we are working on and your comments or an expression of interest can be very helpful at this stage. The more people that we have interested, the more events we can plan. You may also e-mail us at walkingtreesyoga@gmail.com for private conversation, questions or to participate as an instructor, space provider or co-facilitator.We look forward to much growth and cleansing...

Just wanted to wish you all great success as you continue to spread love through your art & yoga. It is vital to the wellbeing of the planet that WE the people continue to express our love for one another and what better way than teaching someone how to "love" themself!
